Dear Sisters and Brothers:
On September 23, 2025, the Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association (AMFA) filed a response with the National Mediation Board (NMB) as part of the Alaska Airlines–Hawaiian Airlines representation case. In this filing, AMFA is attempting to exclude entire groups of workers from having a voice in the outcome of this election.
Cleaners and Lead Cleaners: AMFA submitted a list of 254 names they want removed from eligibility (Exhibit A).
Line Servicemen and Lead Line Servicemen: AMFA submitted a list of 51 names they want removed from eligibility (Exhibit B).
That’s 305 workers total that AMFA is seeking to silence.
These employees play a vital role in keeping our airlines safe, reliable, and running every single day. The IAM strongly believes that every worker deserves the right to vote on who represents them at the bargaining table. Excluding these groups is an attempt to shrink the electorate and weaken our collective voice.
IAM District 142 will continue to fight to ensure that all workers are represented and that no one is left out of this important decision. We will continue to keep our members updated as the NMB reviews this matter.
Sincerely and fraternally,
John M. Coveny, Jr.
