We currently serve over 40,000 active and retired members at 44 Locals across the United States, including Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico.

IAM District 142 is dedicated to protecting and advancing the rights, well-being, and dignity of our members across the transportation and aerospace industries. We strive to secure fair wages, safe working conditions, and equitable benefits through steadfast representation, collective bargaining, and solidarity. Guided by unity, integrity, and respect, we empower our members to shape a better future for themselves, their families, and the communities we serve.

EAP Committee

The IAM Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a confidential, worksite-based program designed to benefit members and their dependents in the identification and resolution of personal problems or concerns that may adversely affect their job performance. The International Association of Machinists believes it is in the interest of the member, his/her family, the IAM, and its partner companies to provide help for members experiencing difficulties.

Education Committee

Our unwavering dedication to fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement sets the tone for our Education Committee. Each member of the committee was chosen for their expertise, creativity, and genuine passion for education.

We have organized a series of training classes designed to address the evolving needs and demands of our industry. These classes will cover a wide range of topics including, but not limited to, our new online Grievance Manager Program (GMP) and the “Duties of a Shop Steward.” The purpose of these training classes is to equip our members with the knowledge and tools necessary to excel in our roles and contribute to the overall success of our membership.

Safety Committee

  • Flight Safety: Participates in the investigation of catastrophic aircraft accidents of all airlines represented by District 142, protects members to the fullest in FAA and NTSB hearings, and monitors air safety for the flying public
  • Occupational Safety: Promotes and ensures a safe and healthful work environment for all members, and supports each member’s right and responsibility to work in a safe and healthful environment utilizing the proper safety equipment and work practices.

Human rights in the labor movement encompass protecting workers’ rights to fair wages, safe conditions, and freedom from discrimination and forced or child labor. These rights are advanced through collective bargaining, freedom of association with trade unions, and ensuring dignity for all workers regardless of their background. The labor movement has historically been intertwined with the civil rights movement, fighting for both economic and social justice. .
