Meetings continued this week in NYC between the Union and Company with NMB Mediator, Gerry McGuckin, Kate Ling and Wayne Fraser representing Engineering accompanied by other company committee members. Your Union committee was present and joined by GLR’s Mike Manzo and John Werkmeister.
With the Customer Service open items having been addressed, this week centered solely on the remaining open items from the Engineering proposals. Substantial progress was made in all areas except one. The Union and Company and still far apart with respect to license premiums. Our position is to increase them to pay according to the current industry standard across all major airlines in the United States. The Company’s position is they have no more money to give to Engineering. It is hard to believe that a multi-billion dollar profitable corporation would say that but it is their current position as of today.
The next meeting is set to occur in Washington, DC at the NMB on October 2 & 3, where we will hopefully be able to conclude these talks. As an important reminder, once both CBA’s are completed, it will be considered a tentative agreement and submitted to the membership for ratification. If you have any questions, please give me a call at (859) 653-4037 or email me at or contact one of your negotiating committee members.
