CELEBRATING INDEPENDENCE DAY: A SPIRIT OF FREEDOM AND SOLIDARITY

Dear Sisters and Brothers:

On this Fourth of July, we pause to honor the courage, vision, and sacrifice of our nation’s founding fathers—men and women who dared to dream of a better future and fought for the freedom to shape it. Their unwavering commitment to justice and independence gave birth to a nation built on the ideals of liberty, equality, and self-determination.

At IAM District 142, we carry that same spirit forward. Just as our founders stood together to challenge tyranny and secure the rights of the people, we stand united to protect the rights of our members—fighting for fairness in the workplace, dignity on the job, and a voice in the decisions that affect our lives. The labor movement is rooted in the same ideals that gave rise to this country: freedom, unity, and the power of collective action.

As we celebrate this Independence Day, we wish all of our members and their families a safe, joyful, and meaningful holiday weekend. May it be filled with pride, reflection, and gratitude—not only for our country’s founding, but also for the solidarity we build together each day in our union.

Sincerely and fraternally,

John M. Coveny, Jr.
President/Directing General Chair
