It was brought to my attention that several flight attendants had been having issues with displacement benefits.
One of the issues raised was flight attendants were being told by the Company that they are only eligible for up to two months rent for lease breakage reimbursement. Per our CBA when in a displacement situation you are eligible for any amount your lease dictates as necessary. However, keep in mind you may be required to provide a copy of the lease that outlines the lease breakage requirements. We have addressed this issue with the Company and it’s been corrected.
Another issue was flight attendants being required to pay moving costs up front to be reimbursed by the Company. In the communication put out by the Company they indicated that the costs would be covered by the Company up front, as it had been done at times in the past. But our language in the CBA does specifically state “reimbursement”. However, after addressing the issue with the Company, they will be covering moving costs up front for this round of displacements.
As we all know the Company not providing positive space for displacements has been an ongoing issue. We believe we are very close to finding a resolution to that grievance and I expect to have an update soon.
