ExpressJet Announces Staffing Reduction

Sisters and Brothers:

The Company made a distressing announcement today that they would be furloughing Flight Attendants on the ERJ side of the operation beginning October 1st. There has been so much uncertainty and we understand the impact this has on all of our families and us. The length of furloughs will greatly depend on additional flying opportunities, pilot staffing and Flight Attendant attrition.

While the Union did negotiate potential opportunities for ERJ flight attendants in the via LOA #17 Preferential Hire Program, at this time there are no vacancies on the CRJ or ERJ side, which are both currently experiencing furloughs. The Company does not anticipate vacancies through the end of the year. But as we all know circumstances in our industry can change very quickly.

If you are one of the affected Flight Attendants, please ensure your address/contact information is up to date per Section 12.G.4.

The IAM will continue to meet with the Company in the coming days and weeks and will do all we can to minimize the effect this will have on our Flight Attendants. For more information, please contact Sara Gonzales at 281-827-3965 or

Please sign up for IAM District 142 emails at www.iamDL142.org if you have not already done so. This will allow you to stay informed with the most accurate and up to date information possible.
