The Company made the heart-breaking announcement today that they will be furloughing Flight Attendants on the CRJ side of the operation beginning August 31. There has been uncertainty on a day to day basis and we understand the stress this has on all of us and our families. At this time, the length of furloughs will greatly depend on additional flying opportunities, pilot staffing and Flight Attendant attrition.
While the Union did negotiate potential opportunities for CRJ flight attendants in the ERJ operation via the LOA #17 Preferential Hire Program, at this time there are no vacancies on the ERJ side. The Company does not anticipate vacancies on the ERJ side through the end of the year. But as we all know circumstances in our industry can change very quickly. The preferential hiring program would provide the option for furloughed members to be hired under the ERJ contract once there are vacancies.
If you are one of the affected Flight Attendants, please ensure your address/contact information is up to date per Section 16.C.1.
Our goal is to continue to work towards achieving a joint contract and a combined seniority list.
