Your IAM joint contract negotiations committee met from Monday, October 31, 2016 and continued through Thursday, November 3, 2016 in Kansas City, Missouri.
Your committee received a proposal from the Company on the following Section:
Section 4, Scheduling – This section contains bidding, trading, Reserve work rules, Lineholder work rules, rest rules, part-time program(s) and much more. We understand the significance of this section and the major impact it will have on our quality of life. Accordingly, we spent the majority of the week dissecting the Company’s proposal on this section.
As of this session, the following sections of the JCBA are open:
Section 3, Compensation
Section 4, Scheduling
Section 6, Training
Section 8, Vacation
Section 10, OJI
Section 11, Leaves of Absence
Section 14, Moving Expenses
Section 26, Benefits
Section 27, Duration
Section 30, System Seniority List
Your Negotiating Committee is aware that the Scheduling section is one of the most important sections of the contract and we are committed to achieving an industry leading tentative agreement. We are approaching the most difficult part of our negotiations – economics. Closing the gap on two vastly different pay scales (one the best in the regional industry and the other that lags behind) will be our most challenging issue. Your support is critical as we near the time to look for ways to resolve this injustice.
The mediator has scheduled the next negotiations session for December 5 – 15, 2016, in San Diego, California.
