The Union met with the Company today, July 27, 2018 to discuss Part-time positions in DFW, Furloughs, and enhanced retirement. Below is a synopsis of our meeting.
Part-time – The Union has made a formal request to the company to open the part time bid for the DFW base. DFW has over 200 FA’s in the domicile, the Union’s position is that the company should open up the bid for part time at this time. The company’s has maintained the position that it will open the bid April 1, per the CRJ CBA Section 27.D.1.
Enhanced Retirement – The Company will continue to offer the enhanced retirement package however, you will have to retire by August 31. If interested, please email Dan Curtin via XJT my messages.
Furloughs – The Union and the company discussed future furloughs. To date, the company numbers are fluid as this is dependent upon future awarded flying, pilot staffing and Flight Attendant attrition. Based on current flying and staffing levels, and with the wind down of our Delta flying, furloughs are projected however as of today, future dates and solid numbers were not available. We will update once we have more information. Several of you have ask for more information on furloughs, below are some of the questions and answers.
- What resources are available to me through the IAM?

A Flight Attendant who is furloughed involuntarily may displace the most junior Flight Attendant in any domicile provided she/he is senior on the system seniority list to such Flight Attendant.
- How will I be notified? Section 16.A.4. A Flight Attendant to be furloughed or displaced shall be notified in writing at the last filed address, by overnight delivery, by electronic notification or by personal delivery provided that such method documents the sender and the recipient by signature and date sent. A Flight Attendant shall be given thirty (30) days’ notice of furlough, or pay in lieu thereof, except in cases of emergency or other causes beyond the control of the Company, such as a work stoppage or grounding of aircraft.
- When does the Company anticipate all written notices will be sent?July 30th overnight via FedEx
- When will furloughed Flight Attendants be eligible for COBRA?Oct 1st
- Who do I contact about COBRA rates? Once you receive your furlough packet, to request a COBRA
- How long do COBRA benefits last? They can last for 18 monthsfrom the date you elect coverage. However, dependents can receive up to 36 months of coverage under certain circumstances.
- How many days do I have to elect COBRA insurance? If you are entitled to elect COBRA coverage, you must be given an election period of at least 60 days(starting on the later of the date you are furnished the election notice or the date you would lose coverage) to choose whether or not to elect continuation coverage.

- When will accrued vacation be paid out? Sept 14th
- When will the last pay check that includes guarantee be paid out?Sept 14th
- What happens when flight benefits have been paid for?Activation fees will not be refunded
- When will flight benefits end?Sept 30th
- Will unemployment denied?The company doesn’t make that determination however they will not contest it.
- Where do I file for Unemployment? File in your state of residence.
- When can I file for Unemployment? You can begin the process when you receive your furlough papers.
- Can I file for unemployment online? Yes
- Who do I contact about my 401K? Wells Fargo at 1-877-493-4727
- What happens to my sick time? You will retain your sick time, you will no longer accrue.
- Can I enroll for IAM Free College? Yes
- How can a furloughed FA stay current with union dues? Please contact the D142 office once you are furloughed at (816) 452-6646, they will guide you through the process.
- What is the benefit of staying current with union dues? As a member of the IAM you are eligible for free college, disaster relief fund, union plus, etc.
