As we are facing the toughest times in the airline industry with so much uncertainty in the future, we want to extend the utmost appreciation to our Flight Attendant members. You deserve appreciation for standing strong and continuing to care for others. We want you to know you are heroes in this pandemic. You are on the front lines reuniting families, getting healthcare workers to their destinations and helping all those essential workers get to where they need to be. For that we are grateful.
We have worked together to achieve many things. As of tomorrow, we will finally have access to the mainline UAL cabin jumpseat that has been a fight dating back to 2013. The fight was long and came with so many roadblocks but in the end we overcame and came out with a victory. We have two recent contracts including wage increases and bonuses at both CommutAir and ExpressJet. This includes having to stand up to ExpressJet and demand our bonuses that were long overdue be paid out on time. In addition, we successfully lobbied ICAO for international recognition of Flight Attendant Appreciation Day. We know we are not always valued as safety professionals by passengers and we feel strongly about having a day to not only celebrate our profession but also to educate the public on our integral role in airline safety and security.
Now, during these historic times we have to remember sticking together is the only way we can come through this successfully. So, whether you are flying today, in a crash pad or at home, from the bottom of our hearts thank you for your caring nature, hard work and professionalism!
