Dear Sisters and Brothers:
Thanksgiving offers us a moment to pause, reflect, and express gratitude for the blessings we cherish. It’s a time when family and friends come together, celebrating abundance, unity, and the spirit of giving. Yet, amid the feasting and festivities, it’s crucial to acknowledge the deeper layers of gratitude and responsibility that this occasion evokes.
For union members, Thanksgiving holds a special significance. It’s an opportunity to recognize the hard-won victories, the collective efforts that have shaped fair wages, improved working conditions, and safeguarded the rights of workers. All of us in the IAM stand on the shoulders of pioneers who fought for equity, justice, and dignity in the workplace. This Thanksgiving, we celebrate these triumphs and continue our fight for the rights of all workers.
Thanksgiving is also a reminder to never forget those less fortunate among us. As we gather around our tables, let us acknowledge and support those facing hardships – the marginalized, the impoverished, and the vulnerable. We must never stop striving to improve the lives of our members and our communities. May our gratitude extend to our fellow members and the solidarity we all share. All of us at District 142 wish you a Happy Thanksgiving.
