Hurricane Ian Emergency Information and Contacts

POST ON ALL IAM BULLETIN BOARDS

Dear Sisters and Brothers:

Florida’s airports are being hit with sustained winds of over 150 mph from Hurricane Ian, which is currently coming on shore near Cape Coral as a category 4 Hurricane, verging on a category 5. As Ian passes over heavily populated areas, this will be a catastrophic event for Florida and the United States.

Ian is expected to be over Orlando at 8:00 PM tonight, having already caused massive devastation on Florida’s southwest coast after making landfall this afternoon over Sanibel Island and Captiva Islands. Every airport in the region will be impacted, including FLL, MCO, MIA, and TPA, among many others.

If you have loved ones in any part of the state, they may find themselves without power, water, or internet access over the next few days. We have put together a list of emergency contact information that could be helpful to anyone impacted by this storm. Keep this information close at hand, even if you live outside the state of Florida, in case friends and family inside Florida need assistance.

IAMAW District 142 Leadership, District 142 EAP and the IAM Disaster Relief Fund stand ready to help our members in any way possible.
