IAM/Allied Aviation Mediation/Negotiations Update

POST ON ALL IAM BULLETIN BOARDS

Dear Sisters and Brothers:

As we have progressed through the mediation process under the auspices of the National Mediation Board, we have had to retrace some steps that the Union had already been through which led to the mediation process in the first place.

During the meetings which have been held to date, discussions took a different path with the help of the mediators. Those discussions have produced a path forward that will hopefully produce tangible results in as short a time as possible for all members in all locations.

In the beginning, the goal was to achieve a single Master Agreement for all locations except for wages and other economic matters contained in local agreements. At this point, we have been able to reach an understanding with the company to proceed forward with a much simpler process.  While still recognizing the Voluntary Recognition Agreement (VRA) from December of 2019, we are able to come in with a different approach that satisfies the original VRA but allows us to revert to negotiating separate Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA’s) for each location. This means each location will move forward with their original CBA.

Now that the most confusing aspects have been explained, the easier to understand parts are that in the coming days, a call for proposals for each location (DCA, SAT, LGA, EWR & IAH) will be released from District Lodge 142 to solicit your input for the modification of your current CBA’s. Please keep that in mind when submitting your proposals.  Please keep an eye out for the upcoming bulletins for your station, which can be found on the new District Lodge 142 website at www.iamdl142.org or www.atd142.org

With best wishes, we remain

Sincerely and fraternally,
