Meetings occurred this week under the auspices of the National Mediation Board and Mediator Gerry McGuckin. Present for the union were James M. Samuel, General Chairperson, Reggie Gauthier, CS and John Reisert, Engineering. Present for the Company were Doug Caines-US VP, Georgia Labarge-US HR, Bridgette Brookfield and Kate Ling-UK HR.
Discussions were held concerning the living wage ordinances at many airports around the US and their impact on the rates contained in the CS CBA and also their effect on the rates at ground handling contractors around the US. While we view this as a positive development, further research is required by both parties to understand the impact and next step.
Discussions were also held concerning the Concorde Team concept with the Company giving a presentation on their vision and implementation and the Union was able to discuss in part its relation to the CBA and impact on seniority. Further discussions will occur in the interim and at upcoming meetings as needed. It is our hope to make this change a part of a new CBA for our Customer Service members.
Additional dates for future meetings were also set to occur during the weeks of June 18 & 25, July 10 and August 6. The only source for accurate information concerning these negotiations will be via a bulletin from District Lodge 142 and will be released following each mediation session.
