Negotiations were held again this week in Miami, Florida under the auspices of the NMB and Mediator Gerry McGuckin. The full negotiation committee for the Union was present. At this meeting, the Company introduced as their new lead negotiator, Brian Pinchbeck, who comes to us from the UK and whose current title is Head of Contract Handling & Partner Airline Performance. Michael Brady, whom was introduced at the February meeting, will no longer be present or representing the company in these negotiations.
Time was spent this week on both the Customer Service and Engineering agreements. Substantive discussions were had in both areas, but no agreements were reached. We continue and will remain resolute in our position concerning Customer Service. No progress was made on the larger, economic divides that still remain between the Union and Company’s Engineering economic proposals. It is again our expectation that the Company will return at the next meeting with a comprehensive proposal that includes competitive market wages and recognizes the contributions made by our Engineers.
Future dates have been set and include the weeks of, April 23 (in ORD), May 20 (in NYC), June 3 (In DC) & June 17 (ORD) and July 15 (NYC), . The location of any mediated negotiations is solely at the Mediators discretion. If you have any questions, please give me a call at (859) 653-4037 or email me at or contact one of your negotiating committee members.
With best wishes, I remain
Sincerely and fraternally,
James M. Samuel
