IAM / BRITISH AIRWAYS NEGOTIATIONS  UPDATE

Continuing from last week, the parties again met in NYC under the auspices of the NMB and Mediator Gerry McGuckin.  This week was all Customer Service related.  No new developments materialized as the result of this week’s meetings and your negotiating committee continued the work of endeavoring to preserve jobs for those who want to stay and creating a package for those wanting to leave voluntarily.

Many questions were asked by the membership this week concerning the recent changes to the IAM National Pension Fund (IAMNPF) that were recently announced.  The IAMNPF is a separate entity that operates independently of the Union.  There is no direct connection or correlation between the activities of the IAMNPF and what is occurring at British Airways in these negotiations. One has nothing to do with the other and never has, and never will. I would encourage everyone who has questions about the IAMNPF changes to contact them directly and not the negotiating committee for answers.

Future dates that remain confirmed are October 30-31, November 27-29 and December 3-4.  Please take the time to sign up to receive communications such as this BA negotiations bulletin, and others, by going to www.iamdl142.org and clicking on the red Join Our Email List button in the top left-hand corner. If you have any questions, please give me a call at (859) 653-4037 or email me at .

With best wishes, I remain

Sincerely and fraternally,

James M. Samuel
