Dear Sisters and Brothers:
IAM District 142 is proud to announce the appointment of Mike Mead to the position of General Chair, effective November 1, 2025. Brother Mead has been a dedicated and active member of the IAM for more than a decade. He was first elected Shop Steward in 2013 and has served continuously in leadership roles within Local Lodge 2202, including Secretary-Treasurer, Vice President, and President.
In addition to his local leadership, Mike has served as Vice President – Alaska Airlines on the District 142 Executive Board since August 2023 and has represented his Local and District as a delegate to District and International Conventions, as well as to the MLK Labor Council, Washington State Labor Council, and Washington State Machinists Council. A lifelong resident of the Seattle area, Mike has been a proud member of the Alaska Airlines family, most recently serving as Chief Shop Steward for the Alaska Airlines COPS group in SEA from 2019 through 2025.
Mike has completed extensive training at the William W. Winpisinger Center, including Leadership I through Advanced Leadership, Political Education, Human Rights, Local Elections, Financial Officer Training, and more.
Outside of work, Mike enjoys traveling—particularly to Japan, a passion that stems from his college studies in Political Science and Japanese. He also enjoys spending time with his large family, his dog Mr. Cookie, and relaxing by watching movies or discovering new restaurants with friends.
IAM District 142 extends its congratulations to General Chair Mike Mead on his appointment and looks forward to his continued leadership and service to our members. We also extend our congratulations to Andrea Mondoy-Honaker, who succeeds Mike as President of Local Lodge 2202, after previously serving as Vice President.
Sincerely and fraternally,
John M. Coveny, Jr.
President/Directing General Chair
