IAM DISTRICT 142 FILES FOR REPRESENTATION ELECTION FOR PSA AIRLINES STORES AGENTS

Dear Sisters and Brothers:

The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAMAW), District 142, filed an application today to conduct a representation election for approximately 150 PSA Airlines Stores Agents stationed across the country. This marks the next step in a four-month-long organizing campaign for these workers.

“The work that these Stores agents do for PSA is vital to the operation and deserves recognition. For far too long, management discretion and unfair treatment have been the norms for PSA Stores Agents. What the IAM seeks to do is give these workers a seat at the table and a voice in their workplace. They have worked tirelessly building solidarity and signing A-cards, and now is their time to take their seat at the table!” said Zachary Coker, IAM District 142 Director of Organizing.

“We have a great relationship with PSA, and we look forward to building on that relationship by getting to the table with the Stores group to get them the respect they deserve,” said John M. Coveny, Jr., IAM District 142 President/Directing General Chair.

PSA Stores Agents reached out to the IAM in late 2023 to explore the idea of organizing with the IAM. The agents believe that they should be treated better by PSA management and decided collectively that forming a union with the IAM and negotiating a legally binding contract would be the best way to ensure that they are recognized appropriately for the value they create.

“Words do not describe how excited I am right now. Anytime working people realize their power and band together in search of better working conditions, it is a win for all of us,” said Coker. “PSA Stores agents are a welcome addition to the strongest transportation union in North America.”

The IAM represents thousands of aircraft mechanics and related workers at major and regional airlines across the United States, such as American Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, British Airways, PSA Airlines, and Air Wisconsin Airlines.

The IAM has approximately 620,000 active and retired members in countless industries and is the largest airline union in North America.

Sincerely and fraternally,
