IAM District 142 General Chair James M. Samuel Appointed to IAM Veterans Benefit Trust Board

Dear Sisters and Brothers:

IAM District 142 is proud to announce that General Chair James M. Samuel has been appointed to serve on the board of the IAM Veterans Benefit Trust (VBT). The IAM Veterans Benefit Trust was established to fulfill the legal requirements necessary for the IAM to operate as an accredited Veterans Service Organization (VSO)—a designation that enables the union to better advocate for and assist IAM members who have served in the armed forces.

Brother Samuel is a service-connected disabled veteran of the United States Marine Corps with 30 years of experience in the VA healthcare system. His appointment to this prestigious position reflects his dedicated service to IAM veterans and his commitment to ensuring they receive the care, recognition, and benefits they deserve. Brother Samuel has provided outstanding leadership as Chair of the IAM District 142 Veterans Service Committee, while also working closely with the International. His passion and advocacy have strengthened the union’s support network for veterans and their families across the District and beyond.

District 142 extends its sincere congratulations to Brother Samuel on this well-earned appointment and thanks him for his continued service to our members and to all veterans of the IAM. His leadership and compassion continue to embody the spirit of solidarity and service that define our union.

If you are a veteran or family member within District 142 and are seeking assistance with veterans’ benefits, resources, or support, please reach out to the District 142 Veterans Service Committee. Our committee is here to help ensure that every veteran receives the respect, care, and benefits they have earned through their service. You can learn more at atd142.org/veterans/.

Sincerely and fraternally,

John M. Coveny, Jr.
