The parties again met this week under the auspices of the National Mediation Board and Mediator Gerry McGuckin. In attendance were James M. Samuel, General Chairperson, Andrew Boyd and Lenny Costa, Committee members, Yoram Elgrabli and Yossi Benbassat, from El Al management and Roger Briton, Counsel for the Company.
All open issues were identified for the Mediator and proposals were exchanged. There remains a wide divide between the parties with respect to economics positions. While the Company has had an increase in cost related to fuel, as all airlines have, they have remained profitable and have several initiatives aimed at generating savings moving forward. The reality as it relates to the IAM contract is they have made proposals that are largely concessionary and far outweigh any economic increases they are prepared to offer. Your Committee remains resolute in not accepting these draconian proposals.
Additional dates will be set as soon as the Mediator schedules them as he alone controls that element in Mediation.
