Dear Sisters and Brothers:
Your IAM District 142 Negotiating Committee met with Qantas management in Phoenix, AZ, this week, for our eleventh round of direct negotiations. We are pleased to report that meaningful progress was made during this session.
Tentative Agreement Reached:
- Discipline and Discharge
Articles Discussed:
- Seniority / Reduction of force / Recall
- Scope of the Agreement
- System Board of Adjustment / Arbitration
- Time Keeping and Attendance
The TA on Discipline and Discharge establishes important protections by limiting management’s ability to terminate employees without just cause.
We want to acknowledge the cooperative approach demonstrated by Qantas management during this round of negotiations. We remain optimistic and fully committed to securing our first Collective Bargaining Agreement—one that protects our work, advances our interests, and delivers meaningful benefits to all of our Sisters and Brothers.
Our next bargaining session is scheduled for the week of June 1–7 in Los Angeles, CA, at the Qantas Hangar.
Thank you for your continued support, solidarity, and engagement during this important time.
Sincerely and fraternally,
John M. Coveny, Jr. President/Directing General Chair | Mark Strength General Chair | |
