Dear Sisters and Brothers:
Your IAM Negotiating Committee met with Qantas Airways management this week in Los Angeles, CA, for the fourteenth round of direct negotiations.
We’re proud to report that three Tentative Agreements (TAs) were reached during this session, including:
- Scope
- System Board of Adjustment/Arbitration
- Management Rights
In addition to the above TAs, we discussed the Filling of Vacancies in detail.
Together with the Company, we’ve made substantial progress on several key contract articles, bringing stronger protections and clearer language for all classifications. This recent progress includes, but is not limited to:
- Reinforced job jurisdiction and scope protections
- A fair and structured process for dispute resolution and arbitration
- A defined outline of the Company’s management rights, with clear limits that prevent those rights from overriding your negotiated protections
We’re now moving closer to entering economic discussions. Your committee remains fully engaged and committed to securing our first Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), a fair and equitable agreement that reflects the rights, priorities, and contributions of our membership, advances our interests, and delivers meaningful benefits to all our Sisters and Brothers.
Our next bargaining session is scheduled for the week of August 11th in Los Angeles, CA, at the Qantas Airways Hangar.
Thank you for your continued support and solidarity.
Sincerely and fraternally,
| John M. Coveny, Jr. President/Directing General Chair | Mark Strength General Chair | |
