Dear Sisters and Brothers:
Your Negotiating Committee recently met with Qantas management in Los Angeles, CA, for the fifteenth round of direct negotiations.
We are pleased to report that we reached two additional Tentative Agreements (TAs) during this session, building on the strong progress we have made over the past months. With these agreements, we have now completed many of the non-economic portions of the contract. The next articles likely to be discussed will focus on financial matters, including pay, benefits, and other economic protections.
After many months of negotiations, the following specific Tentative Agreements were reached this session:
- Seniority / Reduction in Force / Recall
- Filling of Vacancies
- The reason your Union has emphasized the importance of Seniority is…
Seniority is the foundation of fairness in our workplace. It determines how we are scheduled, how we are promoted, and how our jobs are protected during reductions in force. By locking in a strong seniority system, we have ensured that decisions affecting your career will be based on objective, transparent criteria and not favoritism. This protects both our most experienced members and those who are building their careers, ensuring that every day of service is valued.
Your committee remains fully devoted to securing a first collective bargaining agreement that protects our work, advances our interests, and delivers meaningful benefits to all members.
Our next bargaining session is scheduled for the week of August 25th in Los Angeles, CA, at the Qantas Hangar.
Thank you for your continued support and solidarity.
Sincerely and fraternally,
