IAM/QANTAS AIRWAYS LAX NEGOTIATIONS UPDATE

Dear Sisters and Brothers:

This week, the Committee met with Qantas management in the LAX Hangar for the eighteenth round of direct negotiations. During this session, we continued the hard work of protecting and strengthening your rights on the job. Progress was made on a few articles with the Union passing to the Company the “Overtime” and “Travel on Duty/Training/Field Service/Remote Location Support (RLS)” articles. No Tentative Agreements (TAs) were reached this round. From the Company we received a counterproposal covering “Wage Rules” at the end of the day on Thursday. Your Committee will take the time while off-line to assess and construct an appropriate response.

Your negotiating committee will remain steadfast in its pursuit of a Collective Bargaining Agreement that contains language and an economic package that reflects your input, and which reflects meaningful industry-based economic improvements. Your committee is united and focused on achieving meaningful improvements in these critical areas.

General Chair Mark Strength was unable to attend this round due to illness. In his place, General Chair Jim Samuel joined the Committee and will continue to participate in upcoming sessions while Mark recovers. Once Mark returns, Jim may remain involved as part of the Committee moving forward. This session also marked a transition in management. Corey Trudgen has stepped down from his position as manager, with Adam Renfee assuming the role. Corey is expected to continue participating in negotiations until a final agreement is reached, ensuring continuity throughout the remainder of the bargaining process.

Our next bargaining session is scheduled for the week of November 11, 2025, in Las Vegas, Nevada, or Phoenix, Arizona, final location to be determined. We will continue to keep you informed as negotiations progress. Your Negotiating Committee remains committed to securing a fair and equitable agreement that recognizes your skill, dedication, and contribution to Qantas operations. Your continued solidarity and support make all the difference at the table.

Sincerely and fraternally,

John M. Coveny, Jr.
