Dear Sisters and Brothers:
Last week, the Committee met with Qantas management in Phoenix, Arizona, for the nineteenth round of direct negotiations. Boris Kochanoff joined us for this session, while Mark Strength continues to recover from illness, and Jim Samuel was on vacation. We remain focused on protecting and strengthening your rights on the job. While discussions were productive, no Tentative Agreements (TAs) were finalized during this session.
Articles Discussed:
- Overtime
- Travel on Duty / Training / Remote Location Support (RLS)
- Wage Rules
- Sick Leave
We are making steady progress toward a fair contract; however, the bulk of the remaining articles are tied to economics, and progress can be expected to be slow. The above-referenced articles remain critical areas of focus for your Committee. During this session, the Company presented a brief overview of wages from other airlines and displayed a graph showing that AME wages lag behind industry standards. This provides a clear benchmark as we continue to fight for fair pay.
Our next bargaining session is scheduled for the week of December 14, 2025, in Los Angeles, California. Negotiation dates and locations after the December 2025 session were discussed and will be finalized shortly. We will continue to keep you informed as negotiations progress.
Your solidarity and support remain the foundation of our strength at the table. Together, we will achieve the fair and equitable contract you deserve, which recognizes your skill, dedication, and contribution to Qantas operations.
Sincerely and fraternally,
| John M. Coveny, Jr. President/Directing General Chair | Jeff James General Chair | Boris Kochanoff Temporary General Chair |
