IAM/QANTAS AIRWAYS LAX NEGOTIATIONS UPDATE

Dear Sisters and Brothers:

Your IAM District 142 Negotiation Committee for Qantas Airways met with the Company in Phoenix, Arizona, at the District Lodge 142 Headquarters. This marks the second time we have had direct discussions between the IAM and Qantas management.

The company introduced an article on Probationary Employees, and the union introduced an article on Union Bulletin Boards. We are happy to report that we reached tentative agreements on both of these articles, and they will now become part of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).

The union and company exchanged additional articles regarding the Grievance Procedure, No Strike-No Lockout, Leaves of Absence, and Safety and Health. The article on Safety and Health was presented to the Company with the assistance of the IAM Safety Committee.

We continue to work hard and diligently towards achieving a first contract, which will benefit all brothers and sisters at Qantas in LAX. Your negotiating team appreciates the company’s cooperation and efforts in this bargaining session.

Our next session is scheduled for the week of September 23rd at the Qantas LAX Hangar. Your committee appreciates your support and solidarity during this process.

Sincerely and fraternally,
