Dear Sisters and Brothers:
On behalf of the District 142 Negotiating Committee for Qantas Airways, we would like to wish you and your families a happy, healthy, and prosperous New Year 2026. As we enter the new year, we remain committed to standing together in solidarity and continuing the work of securing a fair and strong contract for all members.
This week, the Committee met with Qantas management at the Qantas hangar in Los Angeles for the 21st round of direct negotiations. We remain focused on protecting and strengthening your rights on the job. Discussions were productive, and one Tentative Agreement (TA) was finalized during this session.
We recognize that these negotiations have been lengthy. This is largely because it’s a new contract. Many of the articles are complex and critically important. Therefore, the Committee is taking the time necessary to thoroughly address these provisions to ensure they provide meaningful protections and long-term benefits for our membership.
TA reached: Sick Leave
Additional Articles discussed: Leaves of Absence and Holidays.
Our next bargaining session is scheduled for the week of February 2 in Phoenix, Arizona. We will continue to keep you informed as negotiations progress. Your solidarity and support remain the foundation of our strength at the table. Together, we will achieve the fair contract you deserve.
Sincerely and fraternally,
| John M. Coveny, Jr. President/Directing General Chair | James M. Samuel General Chair | Boris Kochanoff General Chair |
