IAM/QANTAS AIRWAYS LAX NEGOTIATIONS UPDATE

Dear Sisters and Brothers:

Your District 142 Negotiating Committee met with Qantas Airways leadership this week in Los Angeles for our tenth round of direct negotiations. We are pleased to report that progress was achieved during this session.

We reached a tentative agreement on the Negotiating Committee, which was then incorporated into Article 20 – Representation / Shop Stewards, with which we had previously reached a tentative agreement.

Additional Articles discussed during this session included:

• Filling of Vacancies
• Scope
• Management Rights

We remain fully committed and optimistic that we will secure a fair and comprehensive first Collective Bargaining Agreement that will protect your work and your rights while securing better benefits for all our Sisters and Brothers. We also want to acknowledge the cooperation of Qantas management.

Our next bargaining session is scheduled for the week of May 12–16 at District 142 headquarters in Phoenix, Arizona.

Thank you for your continued support and solidarity during this critical time.

Sincerely and fraternally,

John M. Coveny, Jr.
