Dear Sisters and Brothers:
Today we met with Southwest Airlines leadership to resume discussions regarding Baggage Estimation Based on Passengers (BEBOP). BEBOP directly affects the day-to-day workload and safety of our members, which is why these discussions are so important.
Our position remains unchanged: the safety and well-being of our members is our top priority. We’ve made it clear to the Company that our members’ safety cannot be compromised for the sake of efficiency or cost savings.
The Company has committed to sending out updated communications next week that will outline new processes intended to address the concerns we raised. We will carefully review those updates and continue to hold management accountable for ensuring that BEBOP is implemented in a way that protects both our members and the traveling public.
Thank you for your continued support and patience as these discussions move forward. Your solidarity enables us to make sure your voices are heard and your safety remains protected.
Sincerely and fraternally,
John M. Coveny, Jr.
