Dear Sisters and Brothers:
Swissport LAS leadership contacted IAM District 142 leadership today to inform us that Delta Airlines and Spirit Airlines will be terminating their agreements with Swissport at LAS. The agreement with Spirit will end on May 1, 2023. The agreement with Delta will end on May 15, 2023. FSM Group will be taking over fueling operations for both airlines at LAS.
Swissport has informed us that they anticipate a reduction in force at LAS that will impact twenty-two fueler positions. The company has assured us that they will follow the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), and any layoffs will occur in reverse seniority order.
Language regarding layoffs and recall can be found in the current CBA in Article 16. Seniority protection is covered in Article 11(C). A copy of the CBA can be found on the District 142 website at https://atd142.org/swissport/.
District 142 will be in contact with Swissport to be sure that our members at LAS are fully protected, and that all aspects of the contract are adhered to by the company during this process. As soon as we have any additional information, we will communicate it immediately.
