Negotiations resumed this week in ORD under the auspices of the NMB with Mediators Jack Kane and Mike Tosi. The week was dedicated to addressing the remaining open items and trying to close the gap on the respective differences in positions. The remaining Articles with open proposals include Article 1, 2, 7, 25, 28, 29 and effective date and duration. The Company provided us with a set of terms as an outline to a potential proposal. Your negotiating committee spent the limited amount of time we had analyzing the terms in trying to assess their economic value. Our initial assessment was that the Company’s proposal, while including a pay raise as a provision of the terms, was concessionary in nature due to the asks in Article 7 (Overtime) and Article 29 (Healthcare). It will take more time for the Union to make a detailed assessment of the Company’s proposal and respond accordingly. In addition to receiving the Company’s proposal, your Committee provided a comprehensive counter-proposal that accurately reflects the needs of our members and their contribution to the success of the airline. The Company did not respond to our proposal during this session.
The Mediators recessed this session and have schedule future dates to occur during the week of January 28, 2019 at a location that has yet to be determined. As always, the NMB determined the location of meetings. If you have any questions concerning these negotiations or this process, please feel free to contact me at .
With best wishes, I remain
Sincerely and fraternally,
