Brothers and Sisters:
Negotiations continued this week with meetings being conducted virtually on the Zoom platform. The full negotiating committees for the Company and the Union were present. The use of a virtual process to conduct negotiations has not diminished any of the abilities to conduct thorough meetings and has sped up the process while saving both parties the time and expense associated with travel and accommodations.
Both parties picked up on the progress from our last meeting in January 2022 with comprehensive passes being exchanged covering whole articles in 2, 9, 10, 12, 14, 16, 17 & 24. Progress was made in all articles with tentative agreements (TAs) being reached in articles 2, 9 & 12. The remaining open articles at this point are 1, 3, 4, 10, 14, 16, 17 & 24. Progress was made in these current open articles with minimal issues remaining in each to close them out. This progress is notable as it keeps propelling us towards the remaining economic portions of the agreement. There remains only a few non-economic areas that still need to be addressed and although they are sizeable with respect to needed changes, our goal is to be into them no later than April. Those remaining non-economic articles are 15 (grievance and arbitration) and 20 which is being considered for use as a new training article.
The sharing of information with you continues to be a priority for your negotiating committee and will continue by bulletins like this. Our goal remains to make sure you have the most up to date information concerning negotiations. Don’t forget to add a personal e-mail address to the District Lodge 142 database for future PSA or other communications by clicking the red “Join Our Email List!!!” button on the DL 142 website at www.iamdl142.org. If you have any questions about this process, please give me a call at (859) 653-4037 or email at . With best wishes, we remain
Sincerely and fraternally,
