The parties were scheduled to meet for Negotiations on June 20, 21, and 22, 2017 at the Best Western in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Present for the Company were Bob Frisch, COO; Tina Vos, Managing Director Human Resources; Randall Moulton, Base Manager ORF and CAE and Jessica MontMarquette, Employee Relations Manager. Present for the Union were General Chair, Jerry Lemke, Negotiation Committee Members, Gary Vargo, Jason Saledas, Seneca Harris and Allan James Ross.
June 20, 2017 during the morning session there was an update from Bob Frisch about the United flying. September UA flying will be 4 lines of flying with one spare, October an additional 11 lines of flying and one spare. They are still working on hangars and line stations.
June 20, 2017 late afternoon session, the Union passed a comprehensive proposal that included the following Articles 2, 5, 6, 7, 9, 10, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 33, 36, TBD 1 Uniforms, Growth LOA, and Retention Pay LOA of which have either sections of open, or were whole Articles that were still open. Articles 25, 26, 28, 33 and 36 were being passed for the first time. After the Union’s explanation of the changes, the Company expressed their displeasure of the comprehensive package that your Committee had put together and presented to them. The Company requested the Union to withdraw the proposal and to present another. The Union made it clear to the Company that was our initial proposal and that it was up to the Company to submit a counter proposal. The Company stated they were not going to respond to the Union proposal. After the session closed for the day the District Lodge and the IAMAW Headquarters were given a briefing of the day’s events. After contacting the Company on Wednesday morning, they informed the Union that they were canceling the remaining scheduled two days of negotiations.
At this point we have accomplished Tentative Agreements on Articles 3, 4, 8, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 30, 31, 32, 34 and 35.
Negotiations will resume on July 18, 19, and 20, 2017 in Chicago, Illinois. Future negotiation meetings are planned August 15, 16 and 17, location TBD.
