Work has continued and progress is being made in the preparations leading up to negotiations that will take place later this year. Your Negotiating Committee has been formed. It will consist of myself as Chairperson, Ian Cole from CLT, Greg Farmer from DAY and Todd Roan from CAK. The full Committee will be attending the IAM Collective Bargaining Preparation course at the IAM’s William W. Winpisinger Education and Technology Center From August 16-21 in southern Maryland. The course is designed around educating the Committee on various topics such as an industry analysis/overview from the Strategic Resources Department, team dynamics, pensions/401k and retirement, bargaining under the Railway Labor Act, drafting and presenting proposals, the power analysis and contract costing. Concluding the week mock negotiations will be conducted with the full Committee and the Instructors. It is a very full and informative week.
The call for proposals went out at the end of May with a July 1, 2015 deadline. If there are any proposals you have left to submit, they absolutely must be given to a Shop Steward or Negotiating Committee member no later than tomorrow, July 17, 2015. This will ensure they are included during the proposal screening process that will happen in the coming weeks.
The PSA Airlines Bargaining survey wrapped up on July 10 and the hard copies are being mailed in. In the coming weeks, the IAM Strategic Resources Department will correlate that data and will provide a breakdown of the data to the Negotiating Committee while we are at the Prep course in August.
