Dear Sisters and Brothers:
District 142 has been made aware that some members recently received letters in the mail regarding Short-Term Disability coverage that appeared to come from AFLAC. Please be advised that these letters were sent in error.
National Group Protection (NGP), our benefits partner, has confirmed the following:
AFLAC recently moved to a new administrative system, which caused a technical glitch affecting several groups, including ours. Although AFLAC owns CAIC, CAIC remains the actual underwriter and administrator of our policies, and nothing about your coverage, benefits, or premiums has changed.
Members should never receive correspondence with AFLAC branding regarding these policies. Some mailed letters also contained incorrect information (including incorrect benefit and premium amounts).
These letters can be ignored. No action is required from members.
NGP assures us that:
- Your policies remain unchanged.
- Your dedicated support teams at NGP/CAIC remain the same.
- They are working to ensure this issue does not happen again.
- A second corrective mailing may be sent by the system, but it can also be disregarded.
