The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) today announced it reached agreement on a first contract and a voluntary recognition agreement for approximately 25 Fleet Service workers at McGee Air Services, an Alaska Air Group ground handling subsidiary.

McGee Air Services commenced operations today in Phoenix, performing all ramp service work previously done by Delta Global Services (DGS).

“We are pleased to have achieved a fair first contract for the hardworking McGee Ramp workers,” said IAM Grand Lodge Representative Bill Rody. “We look forward to continue working with McGee management, who broke the mold and demonstrated that forging a collaborative relationship benefits all stakeholders.”

The seven-year first contract provides an initial wage increase of approximately 15 percent and 22 percent over the first three years of the agreement. The deal also provides annual increases above the scheduled wage hikes, equal to the local inflation rate to ensure that IAM members’ standard of living never erodes. The accord also improves benefits, provides just cause protection, seniority rights and safety provisions, among other improvements.

“Most of the workers who we met with hadn’t received a wage increase in as long as eight years with DGS, with no rights on the job,” continued Rody. “These workers now have voice and a say in their future.”

The McGee Air Services workers will be affiliated with the Grand Lodge Transportation Department.
