Dear Sisters and Brothers:
The National Mediation Board (NMB) has formally authorized a Mail Ballot election in NMB Case No. R-7669, involving Alaska Airlines, the Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association (AMFA), Hawaiian Airlines, and the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM).
- The NMB will mail the Notice of Election and Sample Ballot on December 9, 2025.
- Official ballots will be mailed to employees on December 16, 2025, marking the beginning of the voting period.
- The voting window opens at 12:01 a.m. ET on December 16, 2025, and continues until February 12, 2026.
- The NMB will conduct the official tally of ballots at its Washington, D.C. offices on February 12, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. ET.
The challenge/objection period regarding the List of Potential Eligible Voters was previously established on September 2, 2025, and that filing window has now closed. The NMB is currently processing challenges and submitted status changes. Any new status changes must include supporting documentation and the effective date to be considered. Status changes submitted fewer than seven (7) calendar days before the February 12, 2026 tally will not be considered, except in extraordinary circumstances. The NMB will provide additional instructions for tally observers closer to the date of the ballot count.
IAM District 142 appreciates the professionalism and work of the National Mediation Board throughout this process. We encourage every eligible employee at Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines to watch for their ballot, participate in the election, and make their voice heard.
This is a critical moment for your future, your career, and your contract rights. We thank all members and supporters for their continued solidarity and support as we move through this voting process.
Sincerely and fraternally,
John M. Coveny, Jr.
President/Directing General Chair
