NMB Issues Status-Change Rulings in Alaska/Hawaiian Representation Case

Dear Sisters and Brothers:

On December 8, 2025, the National Mediation Board (NMB) issued its latest status-change determinations regarding 62 individuals on the List of Potential Eligible Voters in the Alaska Airlines representation case. Both IAM and AMFA submitted requests for status changes, and the company provided additional records to support those updates. A few cases still need separate review.

Following its review, the NMB determined that 58 people who were terminated earlier this year and who don’t have any appeals or grievances pending will be removed from the voter list. A small number of individuals have active grievances, and because their cases are still under review, they will remain on the list.

The NMB also confirmed that one person is still actively employed and will remain eligible. Altogether, that leaves four people staying on the list and 58 being removed. With these changes, the updated count of eligible voters is 1,932, which may change slightly depending on any undeliverable voting instructions.

Finally, the NMB emphasized that any future updates must include documentation and clear, effective dates. They also noted that last-minute changes won’t be considered if they’re submitted within seven days of the ballot count, unless there’s an exceptional reason.

Sincerely and fraternally,

John M. Coveny, Jr.
President/Directing General Chair
