Your negotiating committee met with the Company under the supervision of the National Mediation Board member, Victoria Gray in New York City, January 4-5, 2017.
Since this was our first mediated negotiations session with the Company, the mediator gave a detailed presentation on the mediation process. In addition, the Company gave a presentation regarding their current financial position and outlook for the future. While the details of the financial report are confidential, it is important to keep in mind the limited resources of the Company as we resume negotiations.
We had meaningful discussions with the Company based on your feedback after the failed ratification of the previous tentative agreement. Subsequently, talks were mainly focused on compensation and employee health benefit contributions.
On January 5th, we received a comprehensive proposal from the Company, which is now under review by your committee. We have planned a follow up conference call with all parties to further discuss the proposal on January 18th. While we are eager to reach an acceptable tentative agreement as soon as possible, we are committed to ensuring your interests are fully represented at the bargaining table.
We will update you again as soon as the offer has been fully assessed, and we have followed up with the Company.
