PSA AIRLINES STORES AGENTS VOTE OVERWHELMINGLY TO JOIN THE IAM

Dear Sisters and Brothers:

Approximately 150 PSA Airlines Stores Agents have overwhelmingly voted YES to join the IAM. PSA Airlines is part of the American Airlines Group and operates over 500 daily flights on behalf of American Airlines. These new District 142 members work at PSA Airlines maintenance stations in Charlotte (CLT), Greenville-Spartanburg (GSP), Savanah (SAV), Pensacola (PNS), Dayton (DAY), Cincinnati (CVG), Akron-Canton (CAK), Norfolk (ORF), and Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW).

The IAM has represented aircraft mechanics at PSA Airlines since 1995, but their counterparts in Stores only recently contacted the IAM to explore joining the union. District 142 organizers hit the ground this year with informational meetings, station visits, and door-knocking campaigns in all PSA maintenance stations. The stores agents they met were engaged and eager to learn more about the IAM and unionism.

“Today PSA Stores agents took a stand against management discretion, and unfair working conditions,” said District 142 Director of Organizing Zachary Coker. “Over the last few weeks this group worked together to ensure that their collective voices are heard in their workplace. Anytime workers come together and realize their strength, it is a powerful thing. I am excited to see the direction that this group takes, especially now that they are in the drivers seat”

“This is a proud moment to welcome the PSA stock clerks into our District 142 family,” said District 142 President/Directing General Chair John M. Coveny Jr. “Stock clerks at PSA Airlines are vital to the success of the American Airlines operation, and their decision to join the IAM underscores the need for fair treatment and better working conditions.”

The PSA Stores agents will join District 142, which represents thousands of aircraft maintenance and related workers from companies such as American Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, British Airways, Air Wisconsin Airlines, and Qantas Airways.

District 142 would like to welcome our newest members to the IAM. By joining the union, you have taken the first step into a better and more secure future. Thank you to everyone who worked on this organizing campaign to ensure that these workers were kept engaged, informed, and ready to vote for their future.

Welcome to the IAM!

Sincerely and fraternally,

John M. Coveny, Jr.
