SOUTHWEST BEREAVEMENT POLICY LETTER OF UNDERSTANDING

Dear Sisters and Brothers:

Recently, Southwest Airlines made a change in the company’s bereavement policy.  Two major changes took place – in the passing of all listed family members, the employee will be granted 4 days off, rather than 4 or 3 days as provided by the current CBA.  Also, taking a bereavement leave will no longer disqualify an employee for the perfect attendance award.  Last week, the Union and company signed Letter of Understanding 17, which makes these changes part of the current CBA.

Should anyone have any questions regarding this LOU, please contact your shop steward or grievance chair.

Fraternally,
