Sisters and Brothers:
Your Negotiating Committee, which is comprised of Aaron Thompson, Blair Carter and myself, met the week of December 4, 2017 in Baltimore, Maryland. With the assistance of Grand Lodge Representatives John Werkmeister, Edison Fraser and Special Representative Brianna Gregory, we began the process for moving into direct negotiations with the Company. This Negotiations Preparation was used for educating your Committee on the process of effective negotiations, setting ground rules we will follow as a Committee for a smooth process and writing contract language for proposals we will pass to the Company when negotiations begin. I want to thank everyone for the participation you showed with the surveys that were completed and sent back to the District. The survey results will help your Committee develop and prioritize our proposals. Through discussions with the Company, we have secured January 8 and 9, 2018 for direct negotiations to begin. Future updates will be sent throughout this process.
As everyone is aware, the Company has made an operational change in their Management team at BWI. As of December 7, 2017, Cameron Cuthriell is the General Manager. I would like to welcome Cameron to BWI and ask that we join together to make his transition as smooth as possible. Our continued safe, courteous, timely and professional work ethic is paramount to this transition.
