As a Union, Safety is our greatest concern. Every member has the right to go home at the end of their shift in the same or better condition than when they reported for work.
To avoid possible injury and equipment damage, the Company has put in place Guide-people. The use of these Guide-people is mandatory. Any employee who fails to use a Guide-person will be subject to discipline.
In a meeting on March 29, 2016 Otis Williams made clear that while assigned as a Guide-person that employee will have no other job assignments and that if there are any delays as a result of waiting for a Guide-person, no discipline will be issued.
Going forward, if you are present when an employee is directed to or you are directed to deviate from this policy report it immediately to Otis and copy me in also.
