Dear Sisters and Brothers:
On Veterans Day, we honor and express gratitude to the brave men and women who have served in the armed forces of the United States. For IAM members, this day holds special significance as we recognize and pay tribute to the veterans within our union and our communities.
The IAM has a long and proud tradition of supporting veterans and advocating for their rights. Many of our members have served in the military or have family members who are veterans. This close connection to the armed forces instills a deep sense of responsibility and commitment in our members to honor and support those who have served our country.
Through programs such as the IAM Veterans Service program, and local lodge and district lodge veterans committees, our union works hard to educate our members and the community about the unique challenges veterans may encounter, including access to healthcare, employment opportunities, and mental health support. By raising awareness and advocating for policies that benefit veterans, the IAM continues to make a positive impact on the lives of those who have served.
Veterans Day is not just a day off work or school; it’s a day for reflection and gratitude. Let us all take a moment to express our appreciation for the sacrifices made by our veterans, and to commit to supporting and advocating for their well-being throughout the year.
Sincerely and fraternally,
John M. Coveny, Jr.
President/Directing General Chair
IAM District 142
