IAM/QANTAS AIRWAYS CALL FOR CONTRACT PROPOSALS

Dear Sisters and Brothers:

IAM District 142 announced the names of your Negotiating Committee earlier today. As your newly formed committee prepares for the task ahead, one of the first steps in the negotiations process is the official Call for Contract Proposals.

Submitting contract proposals is one way you, the IAM members at Qantas, can be directly involved in negotiating your contract. By telling your committee exactly what you want or don’t want in your first contract, you will be enabling them to negotiate effectively, and most importantly, it empowers you by giving you a voice at the negotiating table.

The first step in submitting contract proposals is understanding what a great collective bargaining agreement looks like, the way the language reads, and the kind of things you may want to negotiate for you and your fellow members, for example: wage rates, premiums, work scope, benefits, safety and health, work rules, and more. On the District 142 website, contracts for Aircraft Maintenance Technicians at American Airlines, PSA Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, and Air Wisconsin can be found. Studying these contracts can help give you a good baseline for what to negotiate for your agreement.

The IAM/Qantas Contract Proposal Form is online and can be accessed by the QR Code or link below.

If you wish to submit multiple proposals, please fill out a separate form for each proposal. The deadline is June 28, 2024. Once submitted, these proposals will be collected and reviewed by your negotiating committee and will help direct the direction of negotiations.

Once a schedule for negotiations is agreed upon by the union and the company, we will announce the dates and update you continuously on the progress. Our goal is always to bring you a Tentative Agreement that you will be proud to vote YES for.

Don’t hesitate to get in touch with your General Chair, Mark Strength, at , with any questions or concerns. Your continued support is needed as we prepare for these negotiations, and we thank you for your solidarity.

Sincerely and fraternally,

John M. Coveny, Jr.
