IAM/QANTAS AIRWAYS LAX NEGOTIATIONS UPDATE

Dear Sisters and Brothers:

Your IAM District 142 Negotiation Committee met with Qantas Airways management at the Qantas hangar in Los Angeles this week. This marks the fourth time we have had direct discussions between the Company and the IAM.

One Tentative Agreement was reached for Grievance Procedure, and discussions were held on the following articles:

  • Representation/Shop Stewards
  • Travel on Duty – Training
  • Vacation with Pay
  • Seniority/Reduction in Force
  • Classification and Work Requirements
  • System Board
  • Parking

Both parties continued dialogue on previously discussed articles that will become part of the collective bargaining agreement.

We are committed to working diligently towards achieving a first contract to benefit all our brothers and sisters. Your negotiating team appreciates the company’s cooperation and efforts in this bargaining session.

We want to thank District 142 General Chair Ken Coley for assisting in this week’s negotiations.

Our next session will be the week of November 19 – 21 at the District 142 headquarters in PHX.  Your committee appreciates your support and solidarity during this negotiation process.

Sincerely and fraternally,

John M. Coveny, Jr.
