Dear Sisters and Brothers:
We wanted to take this opportunity to address a few issues that have been occurring at the CLT station in recent weeks. Certain CLT personnel have taken to spreading rumors that are not true by getting a piece of information and filling in the blanks. This always does a disservice to the membership, and we wanted to ensure all members have factual information.
The first issue concerns transportation between the hangar and the line. As soon as this became known locally, your Chief Steward and other Stewards made District 142 aware of the issue. Over the ensuing weeks, we have been having dialogue with the Company concerning this issue. The Company exercised a level of due diligence in making this decision and made the change to improve utilization and reduce wasted man-hours on a daily basis. The reality that everyone must realize is that a greater majority of CLT airport employees park somewhere else at the airport and ride a bus to their assigned duty locations. That said, the Company has agreed to make employee parking available in the employee parking lot. You must contact your base manager and request to do so. This will provide greater frequencies for everyone to get to their assigned locations on time and reduce the time spent in travel to and from. Anything greater than that will have to wait for the next round of negotiations.
The next issue concerns the representation of the CLT and GSP maintenance bases. For the time being, General Chairperson James M. Samuel will still be administrating the Mechanic & Related and the Stores agreements with the Company. In addition to this, General Chairperson Bill Wise has been assigned to assist with the CLT and GSP locations. This is due to his experience at CLT with the mainline and living locally. This will provide greater access and visibility to District Lodge 142 GCs. This change will remain in place for now, and any additional changes will be communicated when they are made. We thank you for your patience and understanding in the meantime.
Sincerely and fraternally,
John M. Coveny, Jr. President/Directing General Chair | James M. Samuel General Chair | Bill Wise General Chair |
