Dear Sisters and Brothers:
Your IAM District 142 Negotiation Committee met this week with Qantas Airways management at the IAM District 142 headquarters in Phoenix, Arizona. This session marked the fifth time we have engaged in direct discussions with the company. During these discussions, we reached one (1) Tentative Agreement on Safety and Health and held constructive talks on the following articles:
- System Board of Adjustment/Arbitration
- Safety and Health
- Force Majeure
- Representation / Stewards
Both parties exchanged concerns on the aforementioned articles, which will be incorporated into the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
We remain committed to diligently working towards securing our first contract, one that will benefit all our Sisters and Brothers. Your Negotiating Committee appreciates the Company’s efforts during this bargaining session.
We would also like to express our gratitude to Wenona Tyree, District 142 Occupational Health and Safety Representative, for her valuable contributions to obtaining the Tentative Agreement on Safety and Health.
Our next bargaining session is scheduled for the week of December 9th at the Qantas Hangar in Los Angeles. Future negotiation sessions for 2025 were tentatively planned.
Your committee greatly appreciates your continued support and solidarity throughout this negotiation process.
Sincerely and fraternally,
John M. Coveny, Jr. President/Directing General Chair | Mark Strength General Chair | |
