SOUTHWEST AIRLINES BWI REDUCTIONS

Dear Sisters and Brothers:

IAM District 142 has been informed of Southwest Airlines’ planned workforce reductions in BWI.

The Company has outlined options for affected employees that are currently in the process of being finalized, including the ability to bid for open positions in various locations, pursue and apply for other open positions throughout the Company, or opt to depart the Company with a severance package.

Your Union would like to be absolutely clear, our only responsibility is to you, the membership. We are committed to holding Southwest Airlines completely accountable to abide by every Article and paragraph of your Collective Bargaining Agreement to ensure that any and all protections contained therein for our members are adhered to. We will accept no less from the Company.

As this is a developing situation, your District 142 leadership is in constant contact with Southwest Airlines and will keep you informed of any updates as they become available.

Please reach out to your Shop Stewards or General Chairs with your individual questions and concerns as we work on additional communications.

Sincerely and fraternally,

John M. Coveny, Jr.
