Negotiations resumed this week in ORD under the auspices of the NMB and Mediator Jane Allen. The Company and Union committees were present for meetings that occurred from Tuesday through Thursday.
At the beginning of the session, the Mediator thought it warranted to again discuss with each party their respective positions and the current divide between our positions. We had put forward a proposal in DC at the last meeting that was purely representative of your feedback, recent economic changes in the industry at many carriers and remaining issues you the membership have identified as reasons for the overwhelming rejection of the first Tentative Agreement.
After these discussions, we received a proposal from the Company that contained a different mix of items but again fell well short of our, and your, expectations. While we may currently be worlds apart in table positions, the exchange did lead to further discussions that may provide a basis moving forward to address some of the Company’s issues while providing for our members. We all received a presentation on supplemental insurance from a Mercer Health and Benefits representative.
Future dates have been set for mediated negotiations and will occur during the weeks of March 16, April 13 and May 11 and will again take place in ORD. Dates for the month of February could not be coordinated with the mediator.
